Personalized Nutrition
Dietary factors are known to play a role in health and diseases and there is convincing evidence that adopting a correct lifestyle (diet included) can be more effective than drug treatment in the prevention of diseases in susceptible subjects.Personalized nutrition (PN) is nutrition advice based on an individual's data, such as metabolism, biochemistry, and micro biome.PN may help individuals manage their weight, better control their blood sugar and cholesterol, and find the most beneficial exercise plan.
Dietary factors are well recognized contributors to common diseases, including heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and cancer etc.. The overall goal of personalized nutrition is to preserve or increase health using genetic, phenotypic, medical, nutritional and other relevant information about individuals to deliver more specific healthy eating guidance and other nutritional products and services. Personalized nutrition is equally applicable to patients and to healthy people who may or may not have enhanced genetic susceptibilities to specific diseases.Personalized nutrition can be applied in two broad areas: firstly, for the dietary management of people with specific diseases or who need special nutritional support—for example, in pregnancy or old age, and, secondly, for the development of more effective interventions for improving public health.
